Omani Foreign Minister Visits Pakistan for Joint Ministerial Commission

Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi arrived in Islamabad to co-chair a joint commission on trade, security, and Middle East mediation.

Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi arrived in Islamabad on October 13, 2026, for a two-day official visit to Pakistan. Invited by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Al Busaidi is co-chairing the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission.

The commission is reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations to expand cooperation in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, and oil and gas. The talks also cover security, defense, climate change, labor, and maritime affairs. During the visit, Al Busaidi is expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to deepen fraternal ties and provide fresh impetus to economic links.

Beyond bilateral economic goals, the visit takes place amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East. Both nations are involved in mediatory efforts to reach a negotiated settlement in the US-Iran war and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Oman has specifically been engaging Iran to establish safe commercial shipping routes through the waterway.
