Osun State Government Warns Against Post-Election Violence
The Government of Osun State warned against actions disrupting public peace following the governorship election and called for the release of political detainees.
The Government of Osun State issued a warning on Sunday against any actions that could disrupt public peace following the state's recent governorship election. Through Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the government called for reconciliation and stability to prevent new crises in local government councils and motor parks.
Officials stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu have already engaged in discussions to establish a peaceful way forward. The government asserted that further violence would constitute an affront to the Presidency and the Nigerian Constitution.
To facilitate state healing and rebuilding, the government urged security agencies to end partisan policing and release political detainees. The administration emphasized that the rule of law must be enforced to ensure stability across the region.
