Iran Threatens War After Trump Announces Massive Economic Operation

President Donald Trump announced a massive economic operation targeting countries that provide a lifeline to Iran, describing the move as an "ECONOMIC D-DAY" and "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale." The announcement, made via Truth Social, aims to isolate Iran through the most crushing economic measures ever implemented.

In response, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stated that Iran will regard any country’s participation in or support for the U.S. operation as an "act of war." Rezaei further warned that if the economic war continues, Iran will halt all oil exports through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, added that any escalation would bring consequences, asserting that Iranian "hands are not tied." These threats coincide with an ongoing impasse in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran is demanding the withdrawal of U.S. forces and the lifting of a U.S. naval blockade. While tensions mount with the United States, Iran has entered separate discussions with Oman regarding the joint management of the waterway.
