Darline Graham Faces Scrutiny Over Foreign Policy Knowledge
Senator Darline Graham defends her lack of national security experience during a Republican primary runoff for a full Senate term in South Carolina.
Senator Darline Graham is facing criticism over her qualifications for office after admitting during a televised debate that she was not that informed on national security. Graham, a former leader of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, was appointed to fill the term of her late brother, Lindsey Graham, and is now seeking a full six-year term.
Republican primary runoff opponent Representative Ralph Norman has targeted Graham's lack of foreign policy expertise, arguing that the state requires a senator who understands the subject. Graham has responded by defending her outsider status and comparing herself to Donald Trump, asserting that she is not a politician.
President Donald Trump continues to endorse Graham and is scheduled to hold a campaign rally for her in Myrtle Beach this Friday. The special election is set for August 25.
