Trump Approval Hits Record Low Ahead of Midterms
President Donald Trump faces record-low approval ratings nationally and in Indiana as voters cite inflation and fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections.
President Donald Trump is experiencing a significant decline in public approval according to recent national and state-level polling. A Fox News poll reports his national approval has dropped to 36 percent, the lowest level recorded across both of his terms. This decline is driven largely by his handling of inflation, which only 22 percent of registered voters approve of.
In Indiana, a Free Press Indiana Poll conducted by Bellwether Research shows 54 percent of likely voters disapprove of the president's performance, while 44 percent approve. Voters in the state specifically linked this dissatisfaction to inflation and high gas prices resulting from the war in Iran. This trend has extended to Governor Mike Braun, who now faces a 48 percent disapproval rating.
These shifts in sentiment are creating a difficult environment for Republicans heading into the November midterm elections. Nationally, Democrats hold a nine-percentage-point lead in congressional district support, with voters viewing Democrats as better equipped to handle 11 of 14 surveyed issues, including fuel prices and government corruption. Nearly half of national respondents indicated that their opposition to Trump will influence their vote.
