Trump Administration Plans Mass Revocation of 200,000 Visas

The administration of Donald Trump is preparing to revoke the business and tourism visas of up to 200,000 foreign nationals who have applied for or are currently seeking asylum in the United States. According to State Department documents, the plan targets B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026.

Coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security, the move would constitute the largest mass revocation of visas in U.S. history. While the action strips individuals of their status as business or tourism travelers, officials indicate it would not necessarily lead to immediate deportation for those with pending asylum cases.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau defended the strategy, stating the immigration system has been swamped by frivolous asylum claims. Rights groups have criticized the crackdown, alleging violations of due process and free speech while raising concerns regarding racial profiling.
