Former Prosecutor Sues Justice Department Over Influencer-Driven Firing

Former federal prosecutor Will Rosenzweig filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Miami against the U.S. Department of Justice, department head Todd Blanche, and U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones. Rosenzweig seeks financial damages, backpay, and reinstatement following his dismissal from the Miami office in September 2025.

The lawsuit alleges that then-Attorney General Pam Bondi fired Rosenzweig less than three hours after right-wing influencer Natalie Winters posted a social media demand for his termination. Winters had publicized a defunct blog Rosenzweig wrote as a private citizen years prior, which contained criticisms of Donald Trump. The dismissal occurred just two weeks before Rosenzweig was scheduled to try a multimillion-dollar Medicare fraud case.

Rosenzweig's legal team argues the firing violated First Amendment protections and questions how Winters obtained non-public information regarding the fraud case he was overseeing. The complaint characterizes the termination as part of a broader personnel purge within the Justice Department targeting officials deemed disloyal to the president. The Department of Justice has declined to comment on the litigation.
