Former Peter Obi Aides Defect to Support Bola Tinubu
Former campaign officials for Peter Obi launched the Batified Obidients platform to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress for 2027.
Former key officials from Peter Obi's 2023 presidential campaign have defected to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. At a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the group launched a new political platform called Batified Obidients to mobilize support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Led by former Director of Operations Adesina Fagbenro-Byron and former head of logistics Fabian Ozoigbo Chukwudoruo, the group cited leadership shortcomings, poor talent management, and unresolved internal conflicts within the Obi-Datti campaign as the primary reasons for their departure. They specifically criticized the mismanagement of talent and diversity during the previous campaign.
While acknowledging current economic hardships in Nigeria, the group endorsed the Tinubu administration's reform agenda, including student loan initiatives and the removal of petrol subsidies. The Batified Obidients intend to conduct membership registration and grassroots mobilization, focusing on states where Tinubu lost during the 2023 election to build a stronger coalition for the APC.
