Trump Declassifies Russia Probe Files and Halts Epstein Releases

Donald Trump declassified documents alleging the Russia investigation was a political rush job while scaling back pledges to release Jeffrey Epstein government files.

President Donald Trump declassified documents regarding the Russia investigation while reportedly back-pedaling on pledges to release government files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The newly disclosed records suggest that the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, as well as reports by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the Senate committee, omitted internal evidentiary gaps and doubts concerning Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

The revelations allege that President Barack Obama and CIA Director John Brennan pushed a narrative of Russian interference to deflect attention from Hillary Clinton's email scandal. According to the documents, this was achieved through a rush job intelligence assessment and the use of the Steele dossier to initiate probes into associates of the Trump administration.

Simultaneously, efforts to uncover more information regarding Jeffrey Epstein faced legal hurdles. A Florida federal judge ruled that the law does not permit the release of secret grand jury testimony that the United States Department of Justice had requested.
