France Arrests 2,300 Amid Violent Cost-of-Living Protests

French security forces arrested over 2,300 people after violent protests over inflation and school conditions sparked looting and fires across Paris and other regions.

Violent protests over inflation, school conditions, and the cost of living led to more than 2,300 arrests across France over a single weekend. Demonstrators clashed with security forces, looted shops, and set fires in Paris and other regions, with some protesters demanding the resignation of the president.

Emmanuel Macron addressed the nation on Sunday, stating that "nothing justifies" the violence. While the unrest was driven by domestic economic grievances, a Fox News Digital investigation published October 9 alleges that a global network of 50 communist, socialist, and far-left organizations exploited the student-led demonstrations to advance ideological agendas. This network reportedly includes entities in the United Kingdom, Greece, Brazil, India, and the United States.

Specific organizations cited in the investigation include Indian Alliance Paris, which promoted the protests on social media, and the New York-based BreakThrough News, which amplified the events internationally. U.S. Vice President JD Vance attributed the unrest to liberalism and the import of the third world in the name of diversity, suggesting that the situation in France serves as a warning for the United States.
