Russell Fry Endorses Darline Graham for South Carolina Senate

Representative Russell Fry of South Carolina endorsed Darline Graham for the U.S. Senate on Friday. The move follows Fry's loss in the special primary election held on Tuesday to succeed the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

President Donald Trump pressured Fry to provide the endorsement through a personal phone call. Trump has been active in the race since July, seeking a loyal ally in the Senate and dismissing the other runoff candidate, Representative Ralph Norman, because Norman previously endorsed Nikki Haley for president.

Darline Graham, a disability rights advocate and sister of the late senator, now enters the August 25 runoff election with the support of both Trump and Fry. Fry chose to prioritize loyalty to the president despite existing tensions stemming from the primary campaign.
