The president made the announcement during a Republican National Committee midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, and in a video posted to Truth Social on Saturday.
Trump warned that a Democratic victory in the midterm elections would instead trigger an economic depression similar to that of 1929. These statements come as Democrats gain ground in traditionally Republican areas and gas prices continue to rise.
In response to rising fuel costs, some senators are calling for an end to the war in Iran. Former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown, who is currently running for a seat held by Republican Senator John Husted, echoed these sentiments, stating the conflict must end quickly to lower prices at the pump.
