NDA Leaders Reject Rahul Gandhi's Election Fraud Allegations
Union Ministers and NDA leaders accused Rahul Gandhi of prioritizing political ambition over public interest while defending the Election Commission's electoral roll revision process.
Union Ministers and National Democratic Alliance leaders rejected allegations of election fraud and vote theft made by Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress on October 13, 2026. During a press conference at the Bhartiya Janta Party headquarters, Union Minister Piyush Goyal dismissed Gandhi's claims as delusional, stating the government remains ready for a smooth discussion in Parliament if the opposition ceases street protests.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav accused Gandhi of attempting to damage the political system to fulfill personal ambitions. Gupta specifically cited reports of a female journalist being mistreated during a Gandhi-led protest. JDU leader Raajeev Ranjan further compared Gandhi's actions to those of Indira Gandhi during the 1975 Emergency, claiming he is attempting to discredit constitutional institutions.
The ruling coalition defended the Election Commission of India's Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls as a routine process to remove deceased and duplicate voters. This comes as the opposition demands the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Separately, Bhupender Yadav praised the Delhi government's air pollution efforts, noting that a major hotspot's Air Quality Index dropped from 430 in August to 92 following a whole-of-governance approach and the expansion of the electric and CNG bus fleet.
