Donald Trump Reverses Threat to Ban Bombardier from U.S. Market

President Donald Trump announced he will not bar Canadian jet maker Bombardier from the U.S. market to protect 1,500 jobs in Kansas.

President Donald Trump announced in Wichita, Kansas, that he does not plan to harm Canadian jet maker Bombardier, reversing threats made in September to bar the company from the U.S. market. Trump cited the company's significant employment presence in Kansas, where Bombardier employs 1,500 of its 3,500 total U.S. workers, as the reason for the shift.

The reversal follows pressure from Kansas lawmakers, including Republican Senator Roger Marshall. The decision comes as Bombardier recently announced a $50 million investment in its Wichita operations and plans to open a new facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

This development occurs amid broader trade tensions, as the Trump administration previously banned various Canadian imports in response to retaliatory tariffs from Canada. Bombardier shares rose 2.1% following the announcement.
