Trump and Tech Giants Sign AI Safety Accord
President Donald Trump and leading AI companies signed a voluntary agreement to implement internal safety controls and independent auditing for advanced artificial intelligence.
Donald Trump and executives from Google, Meta, OpenAI, Nvidia, Anthropic, and xAI signed the Accord on Super Intelligence during a White House meeting on Tuesday. The voluntary agreement requires companies developing advanced AI to implement internal safety controls, utilize independent outside auditors, and maintain board-level oversight.
President Trump characterized the accord as "morally binding" and stated that the companies are going to "police themselves." Because the agreement lacks the force of law, it relies on industry self-regulation to manage the rapid development of the technology.
