Board of Peace Awards First Gaza Construction Contract

The Board of Peace, chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump, issued its first construction contract for the reconstruction of Gaza. The contract was awarded to Arkel International, a Louisiana-based firm, to build a rudimentary 150-person military outpost. The base will house Moroccan troops as part of an international stabilisation force and will be located approximately 1.6km from the Israeli border in territory controlled by the Israeli army.

This initial project is a significant reduction in scope from the original blueprints and the "New Gaza" master plan proposed by Jared Kushner. While the Board of Peace and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza work to finalize additional awards, the broader roadmap faces opposition from Israel. Following the announcement that Hamas agreed to disarm, Israel has increased airstrikes in the region.
