White House Releases AI Star Wars Images of Donald Trump

The White House released a series of AI-generated images of President Donald Trump on May 4, 2026, to mark the unofficial Star Wars holiday. The imagery depicted Trump as a Mandalorian alongside Grogu, as well as a figure wielding a red lightsaber surrounded by eagles.

Accompanying the images were captions that targeted political opponents, labeling those the administration called Radical Left Lunatics as the Empire rather than the Rebellion. These posts drew immediate backlash from critics and fans of the franchise. Specific complaints centered on the Mandalorian image, which critics argued violated the character's creed by showing Trump without his helmet, and a technical flaw in the AI-generated American flag that featured only 11 stripes instead of 13.

This release is part of a broader trend of the administration using synthetic media to portray the president in provocative roles. Previous AI-generated depictions have included Trump appearing as Jesus Christ and wearing papal vestments.
