Governor Dapo Abiodun Welcomes PDP and ADC Defectors to APC

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun received hundreds of defectors from the PDP and ADC into the APC during rallies in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode.

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun welcomed hundreds of political defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) during two separate events this week. In a meeting in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Abiodun received ward leaders from the Ogun East Senatorial District, specifically from the Ijebu North, Ijebu East, Ijebu North-East, and Odogbolu Local Government Areas.

Following the initial meeting, Abiodun held a larger reception on Friday at the Ojude-Oba carnival ground in Ijebu-Ode. During these events, the governor questioned why political actors remained in opposition parties after electoral losses in 2019 and 2023, describing the APC as the party to beat. He urged the new members to mobilize support for the 2027 general elections and to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Abiodun linked the influx of new members to his administration's infrastructure record and the completion of abandoned projects. He announced that the reconstruction of the Ago-Iwoye–Ibadan Road would be flagged off on Monday alongside Minister of Works Senator Dave Umahi. The governor also expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure the South-West's support in 2027 due to his economic and infrastructural achievements.
