INDIA Bloc Plans Massive Delhi Protest Over Election Theft
The INDIA bloc will march in Delhi on Monday to demand Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over allegations of electoral irregularities.
The INDIA bloc will hold a massive protest march in Delhi on Monday, October 12, to demonstrate against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of 'vote chori' (vote theft). The Indian National Congress has ordered all its Members of Parliament to remain in the capital for the demonstrations, which follow a previous eight-hour sit-in by Rahul Gandhi.
Simultaneously, a delegation of senior opposition leaders will submit a memorandum to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The bloc is seeking judicial intervention to ensure accountability and protect the Constitution, specifically addressing the alleged undermining of democratic processes and the treatment of protesters. This escalation follows a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, where the opposition demanded Kumar's resignation and the repeal of all Assembly polls conducted in the last two years.
Rahul Gandhi accused the Delhi Police and Bharatiya Janata Party workers of using violence against women and students during previous protests. These claims follow a period of heightened security on Saturday, during which police detained approximately 1,000 people, including Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan, and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. The opposition alleges the electoral irregularities were orchestrated by the Modi-Shah regime, citing internal friction within the Election Commission regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
