Donald Trump Claims Iran Annihilated After Six-Month Campaign
President Donald Trump claims the U.S. decimated Iran's military and nuclear capabilities and suggested bombing strikes could increase after the November midterm elections.
President Donald Trump claimed in a Time magazine interview that the United States has created global peace by annihilating Iran. Trump asserted that a six-month military campaign decimated Iran's nuclear capabilities, radar, air force, and navy, including the sinking of 159 ships. He justified the campaign by citing a bloodbath of 75,000 people killed by the Iranian regime and argued that peace with the country is impossible.
Despite these claims of annihilation, Trump rejected a recent peace offer from Iran as insufficient. He indicated it is possible that the U.S. will ramp up bombing strikes following the November 3 midterm elections. To address low ammunition stockpiles resulting from the conflict, the administration has signed new deals with defense contractors.
Regional instability persists as Iran-backed Houthi rebels clash with government forces in eastern Taiz, Yemen. Simultaneously, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador to protest allegations from Prime Minister Andy Burnham linking Tehran to a sabotage plot at RAF Fairford. In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed reports that the United Arab Emirates provided prior warning of the October 7 Hamas attacks and identified an Omani national as a suspect in a FlyDubai security incident.
