Peter Obi Calls for President Bola Tinubu to Resign
Peter Obi, presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, urged President Bola Tinubu to leave office, citing a lack of energy and competence to govern.
Presidential candidate Peter Obi called on President Bola Tinubu to leave office, arguing that the current administration lacks the capacity and resolve to address Nigeria's national crises. Speaking during a Nigeria Democratic Congress campaign council meeting in Kaduna on Monday, Obi asserted that the country is collapsing under Tinubu's leadership.
Obi specifically questioned the president's physical energy and availability, stating that the office requires a leader capable of touring the entire country and responding directly to emergencies. He cited the abduction of hundreds of citizens as a primary example of leadership failure, promising that a new administration would provide active intervention in such crises.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Obi challenged other competent and energetic Nigerians to enter the political contest. He maintained that the president must be available at all times to address insecurity and governance challenges, claiming that Tinubu lacks the compassion and competence necessary to deal with the country's problems.
