Trump Media Launches Truth API for High-Frequency Traders
Trump Media & Technology Group launched a paid data feed providing institutional investors millisecond-fast access to President Donald Trump's social media posts.
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) launched Truth API on August 1, 2026, a subscription-based data service that provides financial institutions and high-frequency trading firms with near-instant access to posts from the platform's 10 most influential accounts, including those of President Donald Trump. The service delivers market-moving information in milliseconds, significantly faster than standard push notifications, to allow algorithmic traders to act on policy announcements before the general public. Reports indicate subscription fees as high as $100,000 per month, with discounted rates of $60,000 for three-year contracts.
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn described the initiative as a strategy to monetize proprietary assets and create a high-margin, recurring revenue stream. This launch follows significant financial struggles for TMTG, with shares declining approximately 27% this year and reports of a 75% drop in stock value since the president took office.
Democratic lawmakers and ethics watchdogs have condemned the service as an abuse of power for personal gain, noting that a trust controlled by the Trump family holds approximately 41% of TMTG stock. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff formally requested that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission investigate the service for potential violations of federal securities laws and the 2012 Stock Act. TMTG defended the product, asserting that critics are acting out of ideological opposition to free markets and that the API merely provides the fastest way to ingest publicly available data.
