Republicans Win Guam Governorship and Legislative Majority

Republican Tony Ada unofficially won the Guam gubernatorial race, securing a party majority in the legislature while Democrats reclaimed the congressional delegate seat.

Republican candidate Tony Ada and running mate E.J. Calvo unofficially won the gubernatorial election in Guam, defeating Democratic challengers Therese Terlaje and Sabina Perez. Ada secured approximately 51.5% of the vote to Terlaje's 48.1%, a margin of about 1,000 votes. This victory, combined with a narrow 8-7 Republican majority in the 15-member unicameral legislature, marks the first time in 18 years that Republicans have held both the governorship and the legislative majority in the territory.

The election ended eight years of Democratic control under term-limited Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. However, the results were split, as Democratic challenger Alicia Limtiaco unseated Republican incumbent James Moylan for Guam's non-voting delegate seat in the U.S. House of Representatives with 51% of the vote. Moylan conceded the race, stating that the people of Guam had spoken.

President Donald Trump celebrated the gubernatorial win on Truth Social, noting that Guam has traditionally been considered strongly Democratic and suggesting the result could indicate broader trends for the U.S. midterm elections. The Guam Election Commission is tentatively scheduled to certify the final results on November 19.
