Iranian President Pezeshkian Meets Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei between July 20 and 27 to discuss military affairs, energy use, foreign exchange management, and international economic ties. This encounter marks the second publicly reported meeting between the two leaders since Mojtaba Khamenei succeeded his father, Ali Khamenei, in March.

The meeting follows a period of conflicting reports regarding the accessibility of the Supreme Leader. While Pezeshkian claimed in July that interactions were increasing, he stated in early August that communication with the leader was "very difficult at the moment."

Public speculation regarding Mojtaba Khamenei's health has intensified because he has remained largely absent from public view since taking office. Reports suggest he may have been wounded in the February 28 strikes that killed his father, an event tied to a broader conflict launched by the United States and Israel.

In response to these rumors, Basij Organisation deputy Qasem Qoraishi announced that footage of the Supreme Leader in public and meeting with military commanders will be released. Qoraishi stated the footage would "once again bring disgrace upon the enemies and detractors of the Iranian people."
