President Tinubu Urges NLNG to Prioritize Domestic Gas Use

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the board of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday to discuss maximizing the country's gas reserves. Tinubu urged the company to reduce gas flaring and convert environmental liabilities into strategic economic benefits for domestic consumers, offering government incentives to stimulate growth and capacity expansion.

During the meeting, NLNG Managing Director and CEO Adeleye Falade reported that the company has generated over $150 billion since its inception, with shareholders receiving approximately $47 billion in dividends. Falade noted that improved oil production has already allowed the company to increase its operational capacity from four to five trains.

NLNG is currently preparing to inaugurate Train Seven, a move expected to boost capacity by 35%. Falade also announced the completion of the NLNG-financed Bonny-Bodo Road and Bridge project, which is now awaiting official commissioning.
