Democrats Pledge Probe Into Trump Presidential Library Finances
Democratic lawmakers will investigate the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation's funding after regaining control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections.
Democratic lawmakers pledged to launch congressional investigations in January into the finances of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation. The probe follows midterm election victories that granted Democrats control of both the House and Senate, providing them the power to subpoena records and compel testimony.
Managed by Eric Trump and Michael Boulos, the nonprofit aims to raise $950 million by the end of 2027, with $600 million projected for next year. An October 2025 IRS application reveals that a significant portion of the funding comes from settlements with companies previously sued by Donald Trump. The planned library in Miami, Florida, is designed to include a statue of the president and a full-size Air Force One.
Senator Elizabeth Warren stated that donors funding the project will be held accountable, arguing that foreign governments and corporations should not use library donations to buy influence in Washington. Representative Robert Garcia of the House Oversight Committee warned the Trump administration and Republicans to prepare for legal scrutiny as the new congressional majority takes office.
