Trump Suspends Iranian Strikes Amid Global Tech Support for Tehran

President Donald Trump announced the suspension of a "surrender strike" against Iran following a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The decision follows a surge in regional hostilities where Iran launched missile and drone attacks against facilities in Jordan and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, claiming it was targeting U.S. sites. The suspension remains contingent on Iran ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which it has closed, disrupting approximately 30% of global oil flow.

Simultaneously, U.S. intelligence reports that Russia and China have significantly expanded their military support for Tehran. Russia is providing real-time satellite feeds and integrating its GLONASS navigation system into Iranian drones. China is supplying up to 400 Man-Portable Air-Defence Systems (MANPADS) and BeiDou-3 satellite technology to help Iranian drones bypass Western electronic jamming.

These developments follow a period of high tension, including a July 25 Ukrainian drone strike in the Caspian Sea and joint U.S.-Saudi strikes against Iranian-backed militias in Iraq on July 28-29. While Saudi Arabia and the GCC continue to advocate for diplomacy to prevent full-scale war, the conflict has severely damaged regional relations and seen Houthi proxies blockade the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, threatening an additional 12% of world crude oil flows.
