Barack Obama Campaigns for Democrats in Midterm Elections

Barack Obama is campaigning across several states to support Democratic candidates and criticize the administration of Donald Trump ahead of the US midterm elections.

Former President Barack Obama has launched a series of campaign appearances in Michigan, Georgia, and Ohio to support Democratic candidates in the final days of the US midterm elections. During rallies, Obama has focused his rhetoric on the autocratic tendencies and foreign policy of Donald Trump, urging voters to use the election as a way to rein in the current administration.

In Cleveland, Ohio, Obama drew criticism from Republicans after comparing Trump's White House renovations to a "Cheesecake Factory" opened by Saddam Hussein. Donald Trump responded by accusing Obama of snobbery. In a rebuttal to these accusations of elitism, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent staged a photo-op at a Cheesecake Factory restaurant.

While some progressive activists continue to critique Obama's moderate record, Democratic party strategists view his involvement as a critical asset for driving turnout among young and Black voters. The goal of the campaign effort is to help Democrats regain the balance of power in Congress during Trump's second term.
