Igbo Association Rejects Tinubu Endorsements by South-East Politicians

The Igbo Community Association in the Federal Capital Territory rejected claims that South-East voters are united behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 election.

The Igbo Community Association in the Federal Capital Territory rejected claims by three prominent Igbo politicians that the South-East electorate is united behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The association's President General, Nze Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, condemned endorsements made by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Minister of Works David Umahi, and Senate Deputy Chief Whip Onyekachi Nwebonyi as unauthorized and a farce.

Ellis-Ezenekwe stated that these officials lack the mandate to declare a political consensus for millions of Igbo citizens, arguing that their statements reflect personal political strategies rather than grassroots sentiment. The association asserted that the South-East region views the current federal administration as a failure, explicitly rejecting the notion that President Tinubu would sweep the five South-East states in the next election.
