Russian Glide Bombs Kill 26 at Ukraine Aid Center
Russian forces killed at least 26 people in a glide bomb attack on a humanitarian aid center in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia.
Russian forces launched a series of glide bombs on Monday, November 2, 2026, targeting a school used as a humanitarian aid distribution center and a nearby shelter in the village of Komyshuvakha. The strike occurred while local residents had gathered to receive supplies. Rescue efforts for approximately 20 missing people were repeatedly suspended due to ongoing Russian drone attacks in the area.
Death toll reports varied during the response. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine initially confirmed 24 deaths, including two rescuers and four police officers, but Volodymyr Zelenskyy later stated that 26 people had died. Local authorities in the Zaporizhzhia region declared a day of mourning following the attack.
The strike followed the expiration of a rare local ceasefire in the neighboring Kherson region, which had enabled the evacuation of civilians from the occupied city of Oleshky. That truce had been brokered in part by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. President Zelenskyy characterized the Komyshuvakha attack as "yet another proof that Russia does not want any de-escalation or real justice."
