AI Infrastructure Market Volatility Hits Neoclouds and Tech Giants
Neocloud providers and major tech firms face sharp losses and credit risks amid a volatile artificial intelligence infrastructure market.
The artificial intelligence infrastructure market experienced significant volatility during the week of October 23, 2026, marked by sharp declines for neocloud providers and rising credit risks. Neocloud companies CoreWeave, Nebius, and IREN saw October losses exceeding 30%. CoreWeave's credit default swap spreads widened past 11%, a level typically indicating financial distress.
SK Hynix cancelled the initial public offering of its U.S.-based storage unit, Solidigm, citing market volatility and share price trends. Other major technology firms faced similar pressure; Meta reported negative free cash flow of over $2 billion in the third quarter and raised its full-year capital expenditure floor to $135 billion. Alphabet's stock fell 6% ahead of its earnings report, and Oracle faced potential credit rating downgrades after losing more than one-third of its value this year.
Despite the downturn, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang maintained that demand for neoclouds remains "off the charts." However, Gartner analysts predict that 80% of such companies will either fail or be absorbed by 2030.
