Pakistan and United States Advance Reciprocal Trade Framework

Pakistan and the United States have made significant progress toward finalizing a reciprocal trade framework to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. During a virtual meeting on August 5, 2026, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan's Finance Minister, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer reviewed the pace of discussions and agreed to accelerate technical-level talks to resolve the remaining elements of the agreement.

Aurangzeb stated that a stronger partnership would support Pakistan's export-led growth strategy and economic resilience. He also emphasized the necessity of continued collaboration with the U.S. Export-Import Bank to facilitate trade and investment.

Ambassador Greer acknowledged Pakistan's recent progress concerning labor and regulatory reforms, specifically noting compliance regarding forced labor. Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to finalizing the framework as soon as possible to bolster economic ties between the two nations.
