Igbo Political Movement Endorses President Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

The Igbo Political Movement of the Igbo Delegates Assembly, representing Igbos across 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. During a press conference on Saturday, the group pledged to mobilize at least two million votes for the All Progressives Congress, extending this support to the party's governorship and legislative candidates.

Director-General John Amaechi Onwe stated the decision followed stakeholder consultations and a review of the administration's performance. He specifically praised the unification of foreign exchange, the removal of fuel subsidies, and infrastructure developments such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Onwe rejected ethnic considerations as a factor in the decision and explicitly bypassed the candidacy of Peter Obi to ensure political continuity.

The endorsement, themed Continuity, Prosperity and Inclusion, positions the group as a strategic ally for the APC in Northern Nigeria. Onwe argued that current macro policies are establishing the foundation for a $1 trillion economy and that the country requires four more years to consolidate these gains.
