Iran Demands Practical U.S. Action Before New Diplomacy
Ali Baqeri stated Iran will reject written U.S. commitments and requires practical actions before entering a new diplomatic phase.
Deputy Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Baqeri announced that Iran will not accept written commitments from the United States as the two nations consider a new diplomatic phase. Baqeri asserted that the United States derailed four rounds of negotiations over the last 18 months through hostile actions and breaches of commitments.
Baqeri demanded that the U.S. government provide practical actions before a new chapter in diplomacy can begin. He emphasized that the Iranian government will not rely on written promises given the history of previous negotiation failures.
Simultaneously, Iran is strengthening ties with Russia. Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei recently visited Moscow to deliver a message from Iran's leader to President Vladimir Putin regarding cooperation between the two nations.
