Nvidia Invests $10 Billion to Boost European AI Capacity

Jensen Huang urged Europe to accelerate its AI industry and introduced modular computing technology to address the region's severe lack of computing capacity.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang urged European developers and investors to accelerate the continent's artificial intelligence industry during the GTC conference in Berlin. Huang noted that Europe holds only 5% of global AI computing capacity, while the United States controls 75%, identifying this gap as a primary bottleneck for regional growth.

To address these constraints, Huang introduced the Vera Rubin DSK Pod, a modular computing center designed to reduce setup times from months to days. He stated that demand for neocloud firms is off the charts, though growth is currently hindered by a scarcity of working capital, power availability, and high electricity prices.

Nvidia Corporation has committed nearly $10 billion to European startups, universities, and research institutions over the past year. This investment includes over $1 billion across five United Kingdom startups and various ventures in France. The company also showcased OpenShell software to improve the control of AI applications.

During the event, Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius discussed the integration of autonomous driving technology, arguing that full autonomy will eventually eliminate auto fatalities caused by human error.
