U.S. Strikes 13,000 Targets to Shatter Iranian Defense Base

The United States launched a massive military campaign against Iran, striking more than 13,000 targets to dismantle the country's military infrastructure. The operation damaged or destroyed approximately 90 percent of Iranian weapons factories, including two-thirds of the facilities used to produce missiles, drones, and naval assets.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Caine stated that Iran's defense industrial base is "shattered," noting significant losses to air defense systems and naval capacity. The military strikes coincided with a severe economic collapse in Iran, where the currency has failed and food inflation has reached triple digits. Projections indicate a GDP contraction of over 6 percent for 2026.

To maintain pressure on the regime, the administration of Donald Trump implemented a blockade and comprehensive economic sanctions. While the campaign successfully shrunk Iran's regional influence, the Trump administration faced criticism for underestimating Iranian drone capabilities and overestimating the efficacy of airpower.
