Gasoline prices across the United States have reached their highest levels for this time of year, driven by a joint U.S.-Israel war on Iran that began on February 28, 2026. In Southern California, Los Angeles and Orange Counties saw 36 consecutive days of rising costs, with averages exceeding $6.24 per gallon, while Riverside County recorded a 34-day streak of increases.

In Idaho, prices have risen by two dollars per gallon since February, causing financial strain for residents and prompting some workers to consider early retirement. Donald Trump signaled during a speech at the United Nations that he remains committed to his current course of action for the long haul, suggesting that immediate relief at the pumps is unlikely.

On Truth Social, the president claimed that fuel costs were higher under his predecessor, Joe Biden. Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy confirmed that the national average price is currently at its highest level for this late in the calendar year.
