Donald Trump Schedules Tele-Rally for Louisiana Senate Candidate
President Donald Trump will host a virtual rally on November 2 to support Republican Julia Letlow ahead of her U.S. Senate election in Louisiana.
Donald Trump announced he will host a major virtual tele-rally on Monday, November 2, to support Republican nominee Julia Letlow in the Louisiana U.S. Senate election. The event, scheduled for the eve of the November 3 election, will also feature Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Trump described Letlow as a "TOTAL WINNER" who has "ALWAYS delivered for Louisiana."
The rally comes as the race between Letlow and Democrat Jamie Davis tightens. Early voting data from the University of Florida’s Election Lab shows registered Democrats making up 42% of early voters compared to 39% for Republicans. While some analysts still believe the race leans toward the GOP due to historical Election Day turnout, other forecasters have shifted the contest from "Solid Republican" to "Likely Republican" or a "toss up."
Letlow has faced criticism from conservatives for avoiding debates and maintaining a low public profile. Additionally, former primary opponent and State Treasurer John Fleming accused her of using dishonesty during the campaign. Meanwhile, the Accountability Project super PAC has launched attack ads against Davis, which Democrats have characterized as racial dog whistles. Analysts view the upcoming rally as an effort to unify a Republican base fractured by a divisive primary season.
