INDIA Bloc Plans Mega Rally Against Election Commission

Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc are organizing a November 1 rally in New Delhi to protest alleged electoral roll irregularities and vote theft.

The INDIA bloc is organizing a Save the Vote, Save the Country Jan March and Mega Rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1, 2026. Led by Rahul Gandhi, the opposition coalition is protesting alleged vote chori and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, specifically targeting the Election Commission of India and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

As a precursor to the rally, opposition leaders will hold a symbolic public impeachment of Kumar via a mock Parliament at Hotel Ashok on October 30. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has ordered party MPs to be in the capital from October 30 to November 1. To coordinate the effort, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal met with senior Rajasthan Congress leaders in Jaipur on October 25.

The Bharatiya Janata Party criticized the timing of the event, claiming a November 1 date is an attempt to rub salt into the wounds of 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims and will disrupt Diwali business. Gandhi responded sarcastically, thanking the BJP for providing the event with wider publicity. The Congress party has described the march as its largest effort to protect democracy and remove those they term vote chors from power.
