Trump Asks Supreme Court to Revive Clinton Lawsuit
Donald Trump petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to revive a dismissed lawsuit alleging Hillary Clinton conspired to rig the 2016 election.
Donald Trump asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday to revive a dismissed lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, and other associates. Trump alleges that Clinton and her allies conspired to rig the 2016 election by falsely linking his campaign to Russia.
A federal judge originally dismissed the 2022 lawsuit, describing the filing as a "two-hundred-page political manifesto." The judge imposed nearly $1 million in sanctions against Trump and his attorney, Alina Habba, for bringing a "frivolous" suit. The 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld both the dismissal and the sanctions in 2025.
In the current appeal, Trump's legal team argues that Supreme Court intervention is required to protect the presidency and prevent courts from punishing advocates for taking legitimate legal positions.
