Hilliard Etta Defends President Tinubu's Security and Economic Record

Former All Progressives Congress Acting National Chairman Hilliard Etta defended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during an interview with ARISE News on June 1, 2026. Etta asserted that Nigeria has seen fewer deaths from insecurity under the current leadership than under any previous government, citing the terrorism index and newspaper records as evidence to support his claim.

Etta highlighted the administration's infrastructure achievements, specifically the construction of 2,700 kilometers of concrete reinforced roads, which he characterized as unprecedented. He also described Nigeria as one of the world's fastest-growing economies with a growth rate of approximately 4.3 percent and foreign reserves approaching 50 billion US dollars.

While praising these metrics, Etta acknowledged that the macroeconomic improvements have not yet reached the dining tables of average Nigerian families. He urged the public to rely on official statistics rather than perception, maintaining that the current structural reforms are essential for long-term national improvement.
