Israel Reports 1,318 Security Deaths as Gaza Toll Hits 74,237
The Israel Ministry of Defense reported 1,318 security personnel killed since October 2023, while Palestinian health officials raised the Gaza death toll to 74,237.
The Israel Ministry of Defense announced on October 4, 2026, that 1,318 security personnel have been killed since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023. These casualties include members of the Israel Defense Forces, Israel Police, Shin Bet, and emergency services operating across the Gaza Strip, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen. The ministry further noted that over 7,150 people are officially recognized as bereaved relatives.
Simultaneously, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,237, with 175,206 injuries. Recent violence includes the shelling of Deir al-Balah on Sunday, which killed two Palestinians, including a girl. Since a ceasefire began on October 11, 2025, 1,454 Palestinians have been killed and 5,090 injured.
Regional instability continues as Israeli forces entered a UN-monitored buffer zone in Syria following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's government. In Lebanon, the Health Ministry reported 4,057 deaths since March 2.
Legal and diplomatic pressures remain high. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes, which Israel rejected. Additionally, a United Nations commission reported that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
