Trump Meets Anthropic CEO Amid Pentagon Supply Chain Ban

President Donald Trump will host a private dinner at the White House on Sunday with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. This first one-on-one meeting follows a period of public friction, during which Trump criticized Amodei's calls for slower AI development and government oversight on Truth Social.

Anthropic is currently seeking to repair its relationship with the administration as it prepares for an initial public offering. While Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and OSTP Director Michael Kratsios have indicated a positive current cadence with the company, Anthropic remains legally blocked from military contracts. A federal appeals court recently upheld a Department of Defense designation of the company as a supply chain risk.

This blacklisting prevents the U.S. military and its contractors from using Anthropic's models. The designation followed the collapse of negotiations in February regarding the use of AI for surveillance and autonomous weapons. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has previously accused the company of attempting to strong-arm the military.
