Flávio Bolsonaro Surpasses Father's Vote Totals in 2026 Election

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro secured more nationwide votes in the 2026 presidential election than Jair Bolsonaro achieved in 2018 and 2022.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party secured a larger nationwide vote tally in the 2026 presidential election than his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, achieved in both 2018 and 2022. Flávio received approximately 6.8 million more votes than the 2018 total and five million more than the 2022 tally.

Significant gains occurred in the Southeast, particularly in São Paulo with the support of Governor Tarcísio de Freitas. In Minas Gerais, Flávio won the state by roughly 600,000 votes, reversing a similar margin by which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had defeated Jair Bolsonaro in 2022. He also saw growth in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

In the Northeast, Flávio reduced the gap in Workers' Party strongholds, though President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva maintained strong numbers in the region. While Flávio expanded his reach in several states, he experienced a slight decline in the Federal District, where Lula's vote count increased.
