Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Partners With Chinese AI Marketplace
World Liberty Financial, backed by President Donald Trump, is collaborating with Hong Kong-based WorldClaw, which provides access to restricted Chinese AI models.
World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture backed by Donald Trump and his family, has entered a collaboration with WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based AI marketplace. The partnership allows WorldClaw to accept World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin as a payment method, generating revenue for the Trump family, who own 38 percent of the crypto firm and have earned over $1.4 billion from token sales.
A review of the WorldClaw platform revealed that 43 of its 90 AI models were developed by Chinese companies, including Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai. These firms have been flagged by the Trump administration as national security risks or designated as military-aligned by the U.S. Department of Defense, effectively blocking the Pentagon from doing business with them.
Ethics watchdogs and technology experts argue the arrangement is hypocritical and creates a conflict of interest, as the president profits from technology his own administration restricts. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly and World Liberty spokesman David Wachsman have denied these claims, asserting that WorldClaw is an independent entity and that offering a variety of AI models is a common industry practice. WorldClaw has further stated that providing access to these models does not constitute an endorsement of the developers.
