Donald Trump Rallies for Michigan Republicans in Port Huron

President Donald Trump campaigned for Republican candidates in Port Huron, targeting Democratic opponents and promising stimulus checks if the GOP retains congressional control.

President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, October 25, to support Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James. The event marked the first visit by a sitting president to St. Clair County and featured an appearance by rapper Nicki Minaj.

During the rally, Trump targeted Democratic opponents, accusing gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson of voter fraud and labeling Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed a "jihadist" and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Trump also promised to send a $5,000 check to every American if Republicans maintain control of both the House and Senate, despite an estimated $1 trillion cost.

On economic and foreign policy, Trump defended the Iran War, describing high gas prices as a "short-term hit" necessary to prevent nuclear proliferation. He claimed Canada has been "ripping us off for years" regarding trade, while Mike Rogers highlighted their collaboration to implement tariffs on Canadian trash trucks entering Michigan.

The rally followed a Saturday event in Detroit where former President Barack Obama campaigned for El-Sayed and Benson. In response to the GOP event, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel, Jr. accused Republican candidates of endorsing a "toxic agenda" involving reckless tariffs and a "cost-raising war in Iran."
