BC NDP Nominates Norma Blissett for Kootenay-Rockies Riding

The BC NDP nominated Norma Blissett as its candidate for the Kootenay-Rockies riding in the provincial election scheduled for October 24. Blissett, a retired teacher and forester who has served on the Cranbrook city council since 2014, stated her campaign will prioritize healthcare access, infrastructure, and support for workers and businesses.

BC NDP leader David Eby called the snap election on September 22. Eby cited the necessity of a provincial response to tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump as the primary driver for the early vote.

The election occurs amid significant instability within the Conservative Party of B.C. The party recently faced a caucus revolt that led to the resignation of its leader, Kerry-Lynne Findlay.
