Donald Trump Accuses New York Times of Doctoring Resort Photo
President Donald Trump attacked The New York Times on Truth Social, accusing the outlet of doctoring a photo of his Miami resort and misreporting rally attendance.
President Donald Trump launched a series of attacks against The New York Times on Monday via Truth Social, predicting the publication will be forced to close its doors. The escalation followed a report by the newspaper claiming a rally Trump hosted in Alabama on Friday was not full. Trump denied the claim, asserting his rallies are hotter than ever and accusing the outlet of producing artificial news.
Trump further accused the newspaper of digitally altering a photograph of the Trump National Doral resort in Miami to make the facade appear shoddy and filthy. He juxtaposed a Sunday Times image showing a blackened facade with a second image showing the building as pristine white. The New York Times used the image in an article regarding Trump's plan to host the G20 summit at the resort in December. While Trump claimed the image was doctored, Newsweek reported that archival photographs from 2023 and 2026 show similar weathering on the facade.
During the dispute, Trump targeted reporters Peter Baker and Maggie Haberman, calling them third rate reporters. This conflict occurs amid a broader adversarial relationship, including a $15 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Trump against the publication and recent efforts to ban several news outlets from the White House.
