Türkiye Celebrates 104th Anniversary of Victory Day

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan led official ceremonies on August 30, 2026, to mark the 104th anniversary of Victory Day. The holiday commemorates the 1922 decisive victory against Greek forces during the War of Independence, specifically the Battle of Dumlupinar.

Erdogan visited Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, where he laid a wreath and signed the memorial book. In a public message, he described the event as the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief and a turning point that broke imperialist encirclement to pave the way for the establishment of the Republic.

International partners extended congratulations to the Turkish government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar both paid tribute to the martyrs and the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
