Elon Musk Pledges $120 Million for GOP Midterm Turnout

Elon Musk has authorized his super PAC, America PAC, to spend between $100 million and $120 million to support Republican candidates in the November 2026 midterm elections. The initiative focuses on a massive get-out-the-vote operation utilizing door-knocking, digital advertising, and direct mail to mobilize conservative voters who typically abstain during non-presidential years. The program targets battleground Senate races in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio, as well as House races in California, Washington, and Wisconsin.

This financial commitment follows a year-long reconciliation between Musk and President Donald Trump. The two suffered a severe public fallout in June 2025, during which Musk criticized Trump's tax policies, called for his impeachment, and accused the administration of shielding Jeffrey Epstein investigative files. Trump responded by threatening to cancel federal contracts for Musk's companies. The rift was mended through mediation by Vice President JD Vance, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, culminating in a May trip to Beijing.

While the White House publicly describes the alliance as a patriotic coalition, aides report the detente remains superficial. Trump privately believes the relationship will never fully recover, and the two now limit their monthly communications to business topics such as artificial intelligence and China. The partnership is driven by mutual interests: Trump secures critical funding as he faces record-low approval ratings, while Musk protects essential military and space contracts for Space Exploration Technologies Corp.
